“The Villages” is located in The Villages, Florida (sometimes referred to as Lady Lake, FL) and is a 55+ Active Adult Community. The Villages is 55 miles north of Orlando, 57 miles from Disney World, 59 miles from Sea World, 77 miles from Daytona Beach, 93 miles from Tampa/St Petersburg, 96 miles from Kennedy Space Center and 281 miles from Miami. The Villages is very conveniently located near the theme parks in Orlando for folks that love Disney, Universal, Sea World, etc.
The Villages currently has over 27 Executive golf courses, which are nine (9) hole courses. These courses are primarily par 3 holes with the occasional par 4 or par 5 and these courses are maintained at a high standard. There are 9 Championship golf courses that are complemented with a first-class country club … and all Villagers are members! Arnold Palmer and Nancy Lopez have both built courses here and have been host to many professional golf tournaments. As a resident of The Villages, you will enjoy FREE golf for the rest of your life on all of the Executive golf courses (walking). If you use your golf cart, there is a minimal trail fee or you can pay a yearly golf cart trail fee of $150 to use your golf cart on the Executive Courses. The Championship courses have trail fees associated with them depending on which season you are playing!
The Villages has over 1400+ activities each and every week of the year that are held throughout the community at a Regional Recreation Centers or Community Recreation Centers … such as Arts & Crafts, Dance, Health & Wellness, Music & Theater, Social Clubs, Special Interest Groups, and more!
The Villages also have over 40+ Community Swimming Pools that are “temperature controlled” (actually there are 4 types of pools: adult pool [30+], family pool for the grandchildren that come to visit, sport pool at the various Regional Recreation Centers for water aerobics or lap swimming, and social pools [associated with country clubs … there is a fee to use the social pools]; numerous tennis courts, pickle ball courts, shuffleboard courts, horseshoes, bocce, archery and many, many other recreation activities that are free to residents. If you love softball, there are lots and lots of teams and 3 great areas for play year round; plus hundreds of other clubs/groups that will meet your recreation needs. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, everyone can have the opportunity to participate in the sports programs. However, you do not have to be a sports nut to enjoy The Villages. The Villages has great billiard tables, table tennis, musical singing groups, painting/art groups, cards/bridge clubs, etc. There are miniature sail boats that race on the various lakes … or fly your miniature plane!
Come and meet your friends at one of the Town Squares … Spanish Springs Town Square or Lake Sumter Landing Market Square … where there is entertainment EVERY night of the week from 5:00 – 9:00 pm, all year round. You will find shopping, dining and entertainment in both of these quaint town squares. Also, many of the country clubs throughout The Villages feature entertainment of their own … and don’t forget “Katie Belle’s” (for Village residents and their guests only), Savannah Center, and Church on the Square offer a variety of wonderful entertainment.
If you love movies, there are 2 state-of-the-art, multi-screen movie theaters, one in each town square: the Rialto Theatre is located on Spanish Springs Town Square, and the Old Mill Playhouse is found on Market Square at Lake Sumter Landing.
You will enjoy endless SPECIAL EVENTS throughout the year … parades and festivals such as the Mardi Gras (come grab some beads), St. Patty’s Day (come drink some green beer), to name a couple. Some well-known personalities have visited The Villages … President Bush, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck to name a few. There are many craft and art festivals … and don’t forget the third Saturday of each month … come to the “Cruise In” at Spanish Springs … loads of vintage and specialty cars to look over while enjoying the music on the square. Don’t forget “happy hour” (in Spanish Springs 5:00 – 7:00 pm every day and in Lake Sumter Landing Market Square 5:00 – 6:00 pm every day).
There is a ton of shopping in both Town Squares (Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing) plus many “strip mall” shopping centers where The Villages has two or more of every type of store. So there is plenty for everyone to enjoy the lifestyle of being a Villager! Most importantly, The Villages is totally Golf Cart accessible …this means you can go anywhere you want to go via your electric or gas golf cart. Just think of all the fun!
The health and wellness of our residents is an important aspect of any active lifestyle. We have many fitness centers (currently 6) within our area, our own hospital, The Villages Regional Medical Center (VRMC), rehabs, nursing facilities, all kinds of medical doctors, and soon to open is the new VA Clinic by Mulberry Grove on CR 42.
For those who seek a place to worship, there are many churches and synagogues … all accessible by golf cart.
